ART FLEA A BUST!!

Today has been so freaking crazy. It was both good and bad at the same time. I picked up my 16 year old niece and took her with me to the Art flea so I wouldn’t have to go alone today. She is a good kid and is cool to take her because she gets to see how people make extra money on there own without having a traditional job.

But she ended up being with me literally all day. I wanted to come home and work but her day wasn’t at home and she didn’t have keys and I thought it would be rude no to entertain guests and stuff. I finished like 6 Mandy cards at the table at the art flea but trust me it was just dead. I actually sold nothing at all. I am glad I didn’t pay for the table. At least last week I made a few dollars. I am thinking of skipping next week because I can’t afford to go if every week is this slow. Not to mention all the stuff I have to do, anyway.

I might actually wait until l the 3rd week of October before I go back.

I am hoping Christmas season will bring some customers and stuff.

On top of all that insanity my niece’s dad never went home so she is stuck here till tomorrow. She doesn’t care but I do. I don’t mind her being here or anything, but it is annoying when your schedule suddenly changes and you can’t do anything about it.

Tomorrow is drawing frenzy, I am not sure I will be going. I need to have my face plastered to my drawing desk the rest of the day especially after today’s events. Think I will go to bed and be up early to work tomorrow.

God Bless,

Arie

Been A Long Day

It has been a long day. I spent it trying to make my studio a little more livable so I can work comfortably mostly. This morning we got the wireless connected. Once I got that hooked up I bought some storage bins and boxed up a lot of video games and movies because they were just in the way, honestly. I still play them but I needed some space and I thought the studio was more important than the games.

So I put my little girl toys away so I can play with my big girl toys.

I really would ultimately like to get a place of my own. i have a place in mind but it needs a lot of work. Untll then i am stuck in the limited space of my moms house which will become even more limited once I get all my stuff back from Ohio.

Having wireless in the house means I can get online when I need reference without interrupting my work flow. I find it really distracting when I have to leave my work area and go into another room to check email and get reference and what ever other things I might need. Now I just wish I had my scanner and printer working so my space will be completey privatized. i hate interuptions when I work because when I have distractions it completely breaks my work flow and can leave to hours worth of delays whether caused by myself or my family.

SOON MY DUNGEON OF SOLITUDE WILL BE COMPLETE HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA hahaha!! *insert evil mad scientist face*

Anyway, I would show pictuers but I am to lazy to take them. *shrug*

God Bless,

A Little Inspiration

I went up to Lawless Times Comics yesterday because I was dropping off a book. I love talking to Lawless because he is a guy that has struggled with owning his business for a long time simply out of pure love for comics.

His store is located in what is considered to be a bad neighborhood and as a result he doesn’t make a great deal of money from day to day, but he still manages to keep going. I admire that because he doesn’t stop what he loves because it is hard.

While I was waiting for the person that was buying the book to show up, I women walks in and starts talking to us. She said she owned like 3 businesses. Reminded me a little of a New Jersey experience where I worked for a place called Kids Art. The women who owned it always bragged about how she started her company and how she had started several other companies. I like to always keep a open mind about those kinds of things to see what I can learn for bad experiences.

I told her I was trying to start a little illustration company and she actually said some thing inspirational.

The said,

“Don’t say you are going to try! YOU BETTER OWN IT!”

“I wanted a hair business and I got it because I owned it!

I wanted a house cleaning business and I got it because I OWNED IT

I wanted a new car and I got it because I OWNED IT!”

She said, “She was the most blessed sista in town cause when she talked something GOD ALWAYS PROVES!”

Now I don’t know if she is lying or telling the truth because I don’t know her at all. It was the first time we met, but it opened my eyes a little bit. That whole ideas that if you want something go after it and let God take care of the rest is something I have been working on in my life. It is all about faith.

Learning about what it really means to have faith has been the greatest blessing this whole year. I see things going in the right direction. I feel Blessed.

Sexual Harassment Nightmares

This is concept art from my Comic enjoy!

Ok so I haven’t been awake all that long. I woke up and them fell back to sleep even though I was planning to get up. What woke me up the second time is I had a nightmare.

The funny think about nightmares is I love them; they give me ideas to draw things. So I don’t really have them. Honestly the only thing that ever scared me in a dream was if a family member died; until now.

I was dreaming that I was in summer school and I had moved into a house that was shared with 4 people and an RA; 2 girls and 3 guys if you count the RA. The RA however was never around. So that morning I wake up and one of the guys starts hitting on me and making me uncomfortable. So I just I walk away I don’t want to deal with it.

Then that night, in my dream, one of the other guys comes in and we are watching a movie or what ever and I stand up and see he is jerking off and starts smiling and when he is done, he runs downstairs to one of the other rooms screaming about how I am going to be his girl friend and he is so happy.

I start freaking out and panicking. I can’t handle it. I go to the RA and tell hi I need to move immediately I can’t deal with that crap. He tells me sorry there is no other place you can move this is the only house available.

Man I woke up so fast. I think it is one of the first times I recognized how honestly traumatized I was after that experience at last job and some of the other experience I had in Jersey. Heck after leaving this last place I honestly felt like I never wanted to have to work for anyone, again.

I once had a guy, a bus driver, that, when I was getting off the bus he say’s to me “DAMN you need to where a sweater” or some fucked up BS. I was like what. Then he proceeds to stammer around his words and say all this crap about I am fine and just really uncomfortable stuff. I walk away and he is like let me give you a ride home. I say no thanks. I start walking, as fast as, I can because it is a 20 minute walk home and I see him pull up in his car and start yelling out of his car window at me about hey baby let me take you home. I run into a restaurant and hide there for a while.

The crazy thing was, he worked at the bus station so from time to time on my way home from work I couldn’t avoid him, but he didn’t bother me to much because I think he realized I was not about to talk to him. One day he apologized and he never spoke to me again. Thank God.

Guys, if you see a chick minding her business and taken care of business, recognize if she hasn’t ever noticed or talked to you and you don’t know her, even if you see her all the time, she probably has a reason for it. Don’t walk up and talk to her like an idiot, or like some slut you think will have sex with you in the parking lot just for fun.

Speak to her like you would want to be spoken to, because 9 times out of 10 there is a reason why she is staying to herself and the last person she wants to be bothered by is some dude acting like a sexual predator, trying to drool and grab on her. If some one did that to your sister would you be happy about it?

I’m just saying.

God Bless,
Arie

I am offering 100 sketches for $10 dollars each.

Should I go to drawing frenzy *update*

That is my debate today I really want to go but I actually have a lot of work to do. I might go for a little while and get a muffin. I will let you know later.

So I went to drawing frenzy, I was actually worried about going cause I wasn't sure I would accomplish anything while there. But actually It was work it to just go. I recognized I was being kinda lazy saying oh I will go stay home and draw in my room when I knew for a fact I would want to sit around and watch True Blood.

So I went and I had fun and painted so I thought I would upload my accomplishments. Check it out.

Watch out now I might bite you if you disturb me while I'm drawing.

Honestly think I accomplished a lot more than I thought I would. I was planning to get these completed today and make up a big shipment for tomorrow to go out.

I also still have some auctions going on my eBay account, so check it out. Auctions here!

Just kidding! HA HA!!
